About SingOxford

Oxford is full of people who, like me, are passionate about singing. I set up SingOxford in 2023 to help us to work together to give opportunities for people of all ages and stages to get involved in singing. There are many excellent opportunities already in Oxford but there are lots of schools, care homes and communities where they do not have the expertise/resources/finances to do the singing that they would like. We all know the benefits of singing for the sense of community, mental and physical health, cognitive stimulation etc. as well as sheer enjoyment. With over 100 choirs in Oxford, we could really do something special as a city, if we work together and ensure that everybody has the opportunity to sing. SingOxford.org is a community platform to bring together singers, choirs, directors and musicians in Oxford. There are many different choirs and choral opportunities for children, teenagers, students and adults in the city, and SingOxford lists them all in one place.  

 

​SingOxford is not just a website - it is an initiative to help the people of Oxford work together by:

• Helping those wanting to be involved in a choir at Oxford to find out about the different opportunities available

• Supporting those who are involved in choirs through shared resources, workshops, networks and collaborations

• Building bridges between choirs, schools and communities so that we can inspire people of all ages to find a voice and an outlet for their singing

Those who are involved in running a choir can also sign up to the SingOxford Facebook group to:

• advertise concerts

• find information about workshops

• share resources

• create partnerships with schools and community groups

• discuss ideas and collaborations

​

The plan is to connect schools, university students, choirs, singers and care homes together to build a network of partnerships in the city.
